TIPS FOR GENTLEMEN

  • It’s perfectly acceptable to focus on ambition and your goals. However, a gentleman never exaggerates his accomplishments or capacities. The world will not give you credit for half of what your self-esteem and boastfulness says about you.
  • Apologize when you have committed a fault, mistake, or bad decision that offends. It is NOT easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission up-front. You can never undue the disregard and disrespect.
  • Any apology made to you must be accepted. A gentleman cannot cultivate his virtues by harboring anger and resentment and not accepting an apology. Better to accept the apology, cultivate your own gentlemanly growth and proceed accordingly. Remove the individual from your circle going forward.
  • RE: your professional aspirations – Do not interrupt or stop another gentleman during business hours. You may be interrupting him or detaining him from important engagements. A proper gentleman will NOT show his annoyance toward you, however he will not thank you for the interruption.
  • If you are interrupted during the day accordingly, you should maintain respect and etiquette and politely inform the other person of your appointments – expressing regret for not being able to converse – while maintaining courtesy.
